Since 1977, RRTI has organised a survey to monitor the business-cycle situation in professional road freight transport. The basic methodology is the same as that used by the National Bank of Belgium.

Until 2005 this was done through a monthly questionnaire. Since 2006 the survey has been carried out quarterly by sending a questionnaire, by email or post, to a representative sample of Belgian transport companies.
