Examination Regulations

Registration

Candidates must:

  • Register with RRTI using the appropriate registration form.
  • Pay the examination registration fee.
  • Provide the required certificates and supporting documentation.
  • Take the examination corresponding to the training and categories covered by their certificates.

RRTI communicates the examination date, time and location to candidates in advance.

Examination Rules

The examination subject matter is established by the examination committee. Candidates may take examinations in Kinyarwanda, French or English.

The examination may cover freight and/or passenger transportation depending on the candidate's training and certification.

Re-examination

A candidate who passes only part of an examination may be exempt from repeating that part during a subsequent examination. The e-learning system states that this exemption is valid for five years.

Examination Results

RRTI communicates examination results to candidates by letter.

The Institute retains examination corrections and relevant certificates for at least six years. Training certificates are prepared by RRTI and forwarded for signature before being sent to successful candidates.

Appeals

Candidates who have not passed an examination have a right to access their examination marking at the RRTI Secretariat within the period specified in the regulations.

The regulations also provide a procedure for submitting a written complaint to the relevant examination committee.
