Professional Competence

Examination

Written and Oral Tests

The professional-capacity examination consists of two parts: a written examination and an oral examination.

According to the learning system:

  • Written examinations normally take place in March and October.
  • Oral examinations normally take place in April and November.
  • Registration is normally possible up to three weeks before the examination.
  • Candidates receive the examination rules and registration form before the registration deadline.

The system states an examination registration fee of RWF 1,300,000 in the described examination process.

Medical Selection

Candidates aspiring to become transport entrepreneurs must first have professional aptitude for the CE or D group.

For candidates obtaining the D or CE qualification, a medical check must be completed at a medical centre approved by the Ministry of Health. The medical-selection validity described in the system is five years.

Certificate of Professional Competence

Initial qualification training may be completed independently, through RRTI, or through a driving school approved by the Ministry.

Successful qualification leads to a Certificate of Professional Competence associated with the relevant C or D driving licence. The professional aptitude described in the e-learning system is valid for five years.

To extend professional competence, drivers must complete 35 hours of continuing education at an approved training centre.
